The Gorman Ridge Rally Organizer Team is proud to open competitor registration for the 2021 event, to be held on Saturday July 31 in Frazier Park, CA. It’s been almost two years since we last raced and right now nothing sounds better than getting back on the stages with our rally friends. Here’s what we have in store for this year’s rally:
- 44 twisty and technical stage miles. Expect over an hour of seat time by the end of the day. Bring your lights because there will be at least one stage run after dark. This will count as a Coefficient 3 event for the California Rally Series.
- Rough? Yes, it’s Gorman, there will be rough sections. We made some tweaks to the stage schedule so that the roughest portion of road is only run once in each direction, and to compensate we added an extra pass on the smoothest stage. Gorman has always been an event that rewards drivers who known when to push and when to drive to the conditions.
- Extended Recce Hours. We added time to Friday’s schedule for recce to make sure that teams who wish to write their own notes have adequate time. We are still providing stage notes prepared by Mike and Paula Gibeault at no extra cost.
- The event will be sanctioned by NASA Rally Sport. This means you must have a current medical form signed by a doctor.
- NASA Rally Sport vinyl packages will be required. If this is your first NASA event, your sticker package is free. As an additional courtesy, we are offering free NASA vinyl packages to any team that competed at 2021 Rally Colorado and enters the Gorman Ridge Rally.
- Central service area with assigned spaces large enough to bring your trailer.
- The host hotel is the Holiday Inn Express – Frazier Park. There is a room block that expires on July 16 with a special rate of $109/night.
- Spectators will be allowed!
- Finally, we plan to honor two members of the rally community who fell victim to cancer in recent years. There will be the Mark Lawrence Memorial Stage to start the rally, and the Chris Fine “Spirit of the Rally” Award given out at the end of the event. Stay tuned for details.
The Gorman Ridge Rally has been around for over forty years, and at the moment we are the last stage rally remaining in California. We rely on support from competitors and volunteers to keep this going. We hope you will join us and help preserve rally in California.
